South Point Playground!

Attention Homeowners!

A Brief Introduction

The Southpoint Homeowners’ Association recently received a land donation from D.R. Horton consisting of approximately three acres just outside of Gate 2 of the subdivision. (The land is located under the water tower, between the drainage pond and fence Gate 2 at the second entrance to Southpoint on Sidney Montgomery). Current plans are to turn the lot into a Playground and Community Recreation Area for our residents. Funding for the project will be left entirely up to our community. The committee in charge of this project has come up with a plan, a budget and some ideas for fundraisers and community involvement. We are calling for all who are interested in helping to please get involved.

More than just a playground, Southpoint Subdivision Playground and Community Recreation Area can become a model for community service, cooperation, inspiration, and creativity that will leave a lasting impact on our residents’ lives. Children can learn that building a community begins by people coming together to work for a common goal. Ideas can become a reality as parents, friends, children, and neighbors work together. Our children's belief systems can be forever changed as they discover that through hard work and the support of many, dreams can come true.

The Current Plan

The current plan calls for a parking lot, two playground structures (one for the big kids and one for the little ones) and a quarter-mile walking track. Future plans may include adding picnic tables, a pavilion are, a doggie park; the possibilities are endless! The current plan calls for a budget of approximately $55,000.00.

Phase 1

The first phase of the project consists of clearing the land of the brush and tall grass. We will be organizing a Community Involvement Day to accomplish this task within the next six weeks. We are asking that anyone with land clearing experience, tools and equipment please contact us immediately if you are willing to lend your expertise and assistance. All other residents who wish to come out and bring their tools and mowers are welcome as well. We will need as many hands as possible!

How can you help?

Buy a Brick! We invite you to purchase a brick bearing your name, family's name, or the message of your choice for $50 or $100. Select an art symbol for an additional $10.00! Print out a form and send it in!
