Tickfaw State Park

Tickfaw State Park, a beautiful 1,240-acre tract near the town of Springfield in Livingston Parish, is Louisiana's newest state park.  Situated along three miles of the Tickfaw River, Tickfaw State Park is also Louisiana's first ecological state park.  It has been open since May 15, 1999.

There's an abundance of wildlife in the park, and the park rangers protect them and their habitat.  The Tickfaw River bisects the park, with 640 acres on the east side and 600 acres on the west side.  The park presents four habitats - the river, a cypress-tupelo swamp, a bottomland hardwood forest and an upland pine forest - that can be experienced along the boardwalks that wind through the park or via displays in the 3,500 sq. ft. nature center.

Overnight facilities include 14 vacation cabins (sleeps 8); 1 group cabin (sleeps 50); 30 improved campsites (water and electricity), 20 tent campsites (water, no electricity).  Cabins and group camps have a 2-night minimum stay on weekends.

Other facilities include a comfort station with laundry; nature center; 3 nature interpretive pavilions; 2 picnic pavilions (seats 48 people); canoe drop-off pavilion; boardwalks; boat launch; nature trail; restroom pavilion; sewer dump station.
